The Alte Nationalgalerie (Old National Gallery) is one of several museums on the Museum Island complex in Berlin. A garden is situated in front of the museum and features several pieces of artwork nestled among highly-manicured plantings. The textures and colors of the garden provide the perfect surrounding to frame the artwork. In addition, the columns surrounding the garden provide another interesting border, with the tumultuous history evident in their bullet-ridden exterior.
This small, intimate space is extremely fascinating in many ways and takes longer to explore than one might think because of all the small details throughout.
